Challenge

Every shelf already had a spice brand. Hatu needed to be the reason to switch.

In a category crowded with legacy names and mass-produced blends, the real challenge was not just to look premium but to genuinely stand for something different. Hatu needed a brand identity that could carry the weight of its origins, its purity, and its story without getting lost on a busy shelf.

Goal

Build a brand premium enough for global shelves, honest enough for Indian kitchens.

The vision was to establish Hatu as a single-origin spice brand that could compete internationally while staying deeply rooted in the agricultural soul of Northeast India. Every design decision had to reflect authenticity, not aspiration manufactured for marketing.

A brand that customers recognised, trusted, and reached for.

The identity struck the right balance between modern and meaningful. The lady figure introduced in the packaging became the face of Hatu’s authenticity, an instantly recognisable symbol of where the spices come from and the hands behind them. The response from customers confirmed that the design did exactly what it was meant to do.
